Once I had a doctor tell me my face was off center. I’ve never been able to look in the mirror the same.
As if we don’t battle against our own insecurities enough, people and even complete strangers sometimes play on and pile on the insecurity.
I often tell my clients that they are perfect the way they are…that you don’t need to lose weight, buy expensive clothes, cake on make up to show up for a session. And I believe it myself.
Which is why I’m so happy that I had these photos taken by Katy Davis Photography.
I love these photos because I didn’t wake up planning to have my photo taken. I also didn’t wake up like this. But let me put a little reality into the online sphere that wants to perfectly curate every little thing.
-I did my make up in five minutes because I was running late. Per usual.
-I fell asleep the night before with a top knot. Woke up and brushed my hair. Don’t look too closely…the back was a little messy.
-I spent more time making my breakfast than thinking of what I was going to wear. But I kept it simple and wore what I know I love….black pants and a white shirt. (Seriously…black pants are like my superhero cape.)
And guess what? I love these images. I’m wearing less make up, spent less time, and seriously did this with no planning compared to how I sometimes take photos.
I’m gonna say it again for the people in the back.
You don’t need to lose weight.
You don’t need to cake on make up.
You don’t need to wear the most expensive close.
Show up in photos. And show up in your life.
ps. I wear glasses like half the time but I’ve never gotten photos with them. Until now. Oh so profesh.
